About Jess

Hi, I’m Jess, founder of Hounds & Whiskers and a passionate animal care professional with over four years of hands-on experience working with dogs, cats and small animals. My background includes dog walking, pet sitting, rescue work and veterinary care, giving me the knowledge and confidence to care for pets of all ages, breeds and temperaments.

I believe every pet deserves compassionate, reliable and personalised care. Whether it’s a daily dog walk, a cat feeding visit or caring for a nervous rescue pet, I treat every animal as if they were my own.

My Journey

My journey in animal care began when I started my own dog walking and pet sitting business at just 18 years old. Building trusted, long-term relationships with both pets and their owners has always been at the heart of what I do, and many of the pets I cared for in those early days are still part of my extended pet family today.

Since then, I have continued to develop my skills and experience through a variety of professional animal care roles. I spent eight months working with Celia Cross Greyhound Trust, helping care for and rehabilitate rescue greyhounds. I then worked for 18 months as an Animal Care Assistant at RSPCA Millbrook, gaining valuable experience caring for animals from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.

I currently work part-time at Vets Now Emergency Vets in Farnham, where I assist in caring for pets requiring emergency and out-of-hours veterinary treatment. This role has further strengthened my understanding of animal health, welfare and behaviour.

Alongside my practical experience, I have completed various dog training and behaviour courses and have received canine and feline first aid training from Dr Sophie Bell, a registered veterinary surgeon.
